Why Biodiesel?

Biodiesel offers a renewable and clean burning source of fuel to help meet our ever increasing energy demands. Biodiesel emmisions are a fraction of those of traditional petroleum based fuels, and the raw material to create biodiesel can be derived from virtually any oil yielding seed. Most farm equipment is powered by diesel, from tractors and irrigation pumps to portable generators. With the steady decline in smallĀ  and family farms in American farming as a whole, biodiesel offers a compelling alternative maket for traditional crops that have been negatively impacted by factors such as droughts and global market fluctuations as well as for new crops. Furthermore by utilizing biodiesel to power the agricultural production and harvesting of the raw material required for its production, biodiesel helps close the carbon cycle from field to fuel tank.

As the use of biodiesel increases in agricultural planting and harvesting, subsequent production generations will become “greener”. When considering the political, economic and environmental liabilities of our continued reliance exclusively on fossil fuels, the question really becomes “Why not Biodiesel?”.
